Our Story
For four decades, Houston School of Flowers has been a place where people come to learn, create, and fall in love with flowers.
The school was founded by Pat Hermes, a Certified Floral Designer who led it for 38 years. Pat taught floral design at Rice University, was featured in 12 articles in the Houston Chronicle, and trained generations of Houston designers, hobbyists, and future florists. Many of her students went on to start businesses of their own.
Meet Caroline
Caroline's floral journey began the way so many have begun here: in one of Pat's classes. She was hooked from the first arrangement, went on to complete the school's full course of study, and earned her Certified Floral Designer credential.
She built her foundation in the industry working alongside florists in Texas and Alabama, designing for weddings, special events, and funerals: the moments when flowers matter most. Today, as director and instructor, she carries Pat's legacy forward while bringing her own voice to the school, pairing timeless technique with a fresh, playful, and sometimes unexpected edge. Her work has been featured on local television.
Caroline believes flowers are for everyone, whether you're a first-timer looking for a creative evening out or a budding designer building real skills. Her classes are hands-on, welcoming, and grounded in the belief that working with flowers is good for the soul.

Birthdays, showers, team outings, and girls' nights. We bring the flowers, the instruction, and the fun; you bring the people.
Floral Arrangements
Custom designs made to order, built from fresh blooms selected for each piece.
Floral Therapy
Our newest offering, created with licensed therapist Kate Black, LCSW. A hands-on class blending real mental health tools with the mindful practice of floral design.
Our Philosophy
We believe in learning by doing. Every class is small, hands-on, and built around real techniques you can take home and use again. We keep things welcoming for beginners and meaningful for those looking to go deeper, and every student leaves with something beautiful they made themselves.
